What is Avian Influenza?

Avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, is a viral infection primarily affecting birds. However, certain strains can also infect other animals, including humans.

Transmission to Humans

Bird flu can spread to humans through close contact with infected birds, dead or alive. Contact with bodily fluids, such as feces or saliva, can transmit the virus. The risk of human-to-human transmission is extremely low, but it has occurred in rare instances of exceptionally close contact.
